The Editor, Sir:I wish to say congratulations, Prime Minister Bruce Golding.
I used to tell people that I will not vote because I do not see a difference between the parties. I have changed my course. This was the first time that I wanted to vote, unfortunately I was too late.
I am like many Jamaicans who are fed up with the state of our country and, therefore, I decided a change would be better than continuing the way we were.
Even though I wanted change I wanted to make informed decisions and, therefore, I would ask persons the reasons that they were for the Jamaica Labour party or the people's National Party (PNP).I received only one reasonable explanation from someone who was for the PNP, but this was rebutted in later discussions.
Mr. Golding, you have the future of our country in your hands. You have the hopes of many persons like me.
You have a hell of a task and not much time to do it, so you do need extra hands. I trust your judgement and will wait to see the results of your decisions.
I believe in order for things to change you should be given at least two terms. As you are aware, you are being watched, the next election I will be able to vote and I am watching you, too.
May God guide you, so that you will be remembered for changing the course of our country and putting us on the right path.
I am, etc.,
J.J.
