Speech training for public officials
published: Wednesday | October 3, 2007

The Editor, Sir:

In response to a letter from Claudette Christie on Tuesday, October 2, titled 'Public Speaking Classes Needed', we (Coast2Coast Media and Productions Limited) would like to offer our service in providing training for those persons who want to become better and much more confident speakers, including our Ministers of Government.

The utterances of some of our Ministers of Government are oftentimes quite intolerable and appalling for persons holding public office.

Identifiable problems

The problem of not being an effective public speaker is not limited to the three ministers cited, but is one which is ident-ifiable among quite a number of our corporate executives as well as members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force .

The identifiable problems are the lack of a good command of the English language; not having a full understanding of the subject matter, and reading and not communicating.

When public officials exhibit all the above, then they are not seen as credible sources of information.

We are available to offer the appropriate training.

We are, etc.,
