Habibi Latino: Mideast hot spot
published: Thursday | October 11, 2007

The famous Fattouch salad consisting of fresh greens, pita chips, tomatoes and cucumber - a great choice if dinning at Habibi Latino.

Three wishes anyone? Well, that seems to be what the mischievous looking genie asks as you enter the doors of Habibi Latino. He offers riches, but the restaurant offers even richer foods.

From the Dead Sea to the Caribbean Sea, the exotic, savoury dishes of the Middle East have been swept onto Jamaica's door step.

A partial Arabic tent in red, black and white, covers the ceiling of the restaurant, creating a romantic setting. Dark and light furniture add contrast to the room that can seat up to 50 persons, and 25 on the terrace.

Owner, Abdul Elkhalili says the restaurant prides itself in serving the healthiest food on the market.

Foods are prepared on a charcoal grill to finger licking goodness.

For this year's Kingston Restaurant Week, a choice of three appetisers will be on the menu. Try Hummus (a chickpeas dip with tahini lemon), Sambusek (special dough cheese) or Falafel (crispy patties with chickpeas and vegetables).

Tantalise your taste buds with a range of Kebabs - chicken, beef, lamb, shrimp or fish.

But leave some room for the great tasting Baklava or Namouva for dessert.

If smoking tobacco is your thing, then try one of their 45 flavoured tobaccos in their smoke house.
