IN YOUR NEIGHBOURHOOD: Mid-season showdown in Portmore cricket
published: Saturday | October 13, 2007

Defending champions Waterford CC and Portsmouth will face off in the championship match of the Petcom Metropolitan Cricket League mid-season final at the Bridgeport Sports ground on October 21.

Waterford topped Group B with the maximum 16 points from four matches and Group A leaders Portsmouth had a perfect 12 points from three games as the first round of the league came to a close.

Rain created havoc on last week's fixtures as only one game was played. In that match, Waterford CC were forced to leave the field due to a heavy downpour at 23 for two.

Meanwhile, one game is scheduled for tomorrow as winless MegaMart Developmental squad face Belmont CC at Bridgeport.

Mothersill is new president

Vivie Mothersill, from Trench Town, was elected the new president of the Kingston and St. Andrew Primary Schools Sports Association at its Annual General Meeting held in the Institute of Sports boardroom on Thursday.

Mothersill, who was first vice president in the last executive, took over the top spot from Mark McKnight, who was not nominated by the members. She won the post ahead of Keith Wright.

Wright, of New Providence Primary, was elected first vice president, beating Donna Thorpe-Walsh, 10-7, while Alisia Miller of Iris Gelly Primary was elected unopposed and remains as secretary.

Marlon Richards of Maxfield remains as the acting secretary/treasurer of the association until the executive committee appoints a new person.

Christopher Richards of Holy Family and Gerald Reid of INSPORTS were appointed public relations officers.

Three members from the floor were drafted on to the committee. They are Christopher Burnett of St. Aloysius and Denham Town, David Johnson of Hope Valley and Sanjay Manley of August Town.
