Spanish Town, St. Catherine:
National Democratic Movement (NDM) candidate in the recently held general election, Denzil Taylor, will reappear in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court on fraud charges on November 21.
Taylor, 56, appeared on Tuesday before Senior Resident Magistrate Lorna Errar Gayle on one count of obtaining money by false pretence. His attorney, Charles Williams, told the court that his client was a legitimate business man and that at no time did he receive the US$2,000 he was being accused of collecting.
Taylor told the court that he had a relationship with the complainant that went sour and that was why she was trying to get back at him. The woman, who was in court, told the judge that she had a witness who could testify that she had indeed handed over the money to Mr. Taylor for him to secure a United States visa for her.

The judge then told the investigating officer to collect a statement from the alleged witness.
The court was told that, in March of 2005, Taylor was paid the money by the female after he told her he was an immigration consultant and that she received neither the visa nor a return of her money. Taylor was charged by the police on Monday.
His station bail was extended until his return to court.
