NOTE-WORTHY: Funny business
published: Friday | November 2, 2007

Funny business

Isn't it funny? No self-respecting attorney would ever insist on speaking on behalf of someone who does not wish to have his services. Yet, that same lawyer might go to court and indulge in expensive litigation, demanding that he be allowed to represent thousands of persons who have publicly rejected his offer to represent them.

It is this type of behaviour that often gives politics a bad name and causes us to marvel that our Constitution permits just about anyone to freely run for public office, except perhaps that individual is a dual citizen.

- Ken J

Not amused

I was unaware that our Ministry of Education had carte blanche authority to change the definition of 'family' and present same to students without ensuring that this is the 'will' of the people. I do not appreciate my tax dollars being spent in this manner.

- 'Over-taxed and not amused'

Relieved

I'm breathing a sigh of relief knowing that the Ministry of Education had nothing to do with the the controversial textbook. Bravo to The Gleaner for shedding light on this plight and keeping the public informed.

Message for MP

This message is coming from a concerned citizen. We the people of the district of White Hall, St. Ann, would like the MP of that area to provide

jobs. In that area, if we could get jobs then everyone would not have to be going to Kingston to find work.

When Reynolds Jamaica Mines was there, they provided jobs for people. This new company that has it does not want to give anyone work. All they want to do is dig up the place. We want work.

If the Government would build a factory within the area to can things, then people could get work and not have to go to Kingston. So the MP needs to do something about it.

This message is for the MP for Blackstonedge and White Hall, St. Ann. Also, the road needs fixing.

- Concerned Citizen

Wrong workdays

We wonder why those who organised the Clean-up Jamaica programme didn't choose Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, since that would give all of us a chance to take part without prejudice.

We believe the organisers have no respect for God and His worship days. It is wrong to organise working days on worship days.

God must have precedence in all things and we would want our government to recognise this.

Jesus is Lord and is worthy of all praise.

- A.A. White, Jesus Witness Ministries
