The Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) is set on creating political history as it claims it will regain its dominance in the Kingston and St. Andrew Corporation (KSAC) in a few weeks when it contests the local government elections.
The party is hoping to claim at least 28 of the 40 divisions up for grabs, said Dr. Ronald Robinson, deputy general secretary of the JLP Area Council One.
Meanwhile, Desmond McKenzie, chairman of the JLP Area Council One meeting, said yesterday: "We have never had a mayor who was re-elected for a second term at the KSAC since 1948; we have never had that before. (The year) 2007 is a different seven, and all of us here are ... going to create political history in Kingston and St. Andrew after the next local government elections."
But the mayor cautioned that victory would not be easy.
"We have to work harder, it's not an armchair ride," he said. "The expectations have grown higher, people are demanding that we put our best foot forward."
