KSAC bureaucracy seen as pathetic
published: Tuesday | November 6, 2007

The Editor, Sir:

TEETH, NOT DENTURES? I found myself laughing out loud on reading the letter from Lincoln Evans., KSAC Town Clerk which was published in The Gleaner Monday. The last paragraph was especially hilarious - 'Mr. Azar, we urge you to respect the laws of our country and those unauthorised to enforce and implement them.'

I am so sorry for Desmond McKenzie for he is such a hard-working mayor, but the bureaucracy that he has to depend on at the KSAC and their inability to enforce and implement anything is pathetic. Would you believe that almost a year ago the Supreme Court ruled in favour of the KSAC and citizens of Bedford Park in the matter of the illegal establishment of a commercial entity in our residential community and the entity has been in contempt of court since then?

Contempt of court

And guess what, the matter has been brought to the attention of Mr. Evans, the Town Clerk and the attorneys of the KSAC at least twice, yet they have done nothing to enforce the law and deal with clear and blatant act of contempt of court!

Secondly, other commercial establishments in the area have been served with compliance notices for almost a year now, yet the bureaucracy at the KSAC has done nothing in face of the non-compliance of these entities. Mr. Evans has a nerve using words like enforce and implement! Look too at the 'no parking' signs in the area under which the illegal operators park as a matter of course.

Come Mr. Evans, put action where your mouth is and use the teeth (not dentures) of the KSAC and stop letting down the citizens and your own organisation which has excellent leadership for the first time at last.

I am, etc.,

JOAN WILLIAMS
