Ambassadors' wives aids charities
published: Friday | November 16, 2007

Sacha Walters, Staff Reporter

The ever-glamorous Aubyn and Tamara Hill 'shake a leg'.

Wives of ambassadors to Jamaica organised a gala dinner and ball last Saturday to raise funds for the Mustard Seed Communities and the Missionaries of Charity Mother Teresa.

According to their press release, it was to raise funds to alleviate "situations of social need in Jamaica as a way of giving back to a society which has welcomed them since their arrival."

Guests were fêted buffet-style to curried lobster, jerk pork, wild rice, curried chicken, paella, exotic salads, and mixed vegetables, among others.

Housed under a large red and black tent with numerous chandeliers hanging from its ceiling, guests felt more than welcome at the resident of Spanish Ambassador Jesus Silva's home in Norbrook.

Guests were given the opportunity to bid on a number of prizes, which included a half-hour helicopter ride for four with NBC chairman, Michael Lee Chin, Thai necklaces, weekends for two at Sandals, Couples and Hedonism, and painting by Ras Dizzy, among others.

The proceeds from the auction will go towards the Mustard Seed Communities and the Missionaries of Charity Mother Teresa.

After dinner guests were lured on to the dance floor by selections from disc jockey Squeeze. Those who partied the night away included: Thalia Lyn, Mike Henry and his wife Dawn, Rodney Davis, Dorothy Pine-McLarty, Anthony and Jean Watson, Ambassador of Mexico Leonora Rueda, Lorna Myers, Aubyn and Tamara Hill, Malcolm Bath, Christina Kaluza, Cynthia Currie, Cezar De Souza Lima Amaral Ambassador of Brazil, Denis Kingsley Canadian Ambassador, Victor Zotin Russian Ambassador, George Fatta, Donna Grant, Andrea Livingston-Prince, Susan Dugall, Joseph and Bernadette Matalon, among others.
