NOTE-WORTHY: Hospital upgrade
published: Wednesday | November 21, 2007

Hospital upgrade

Prior to Cricket World Cup it was reported that over US$8 million was spent to upgrade radiology (X-Ray)equipment at the major public hospitals such as KPH and CRH with new CT Scan and MRI units.

How have these changes affected health care in Jamaica? What is the status of all these installations? I think the impact should be shared with the public.

Buchanan a joke

I believe Donald Buchanan has been given too much media coverage and he must stop distorting the facts as we are not a bunch of idiots. What Mr. Buchanan fails to realise is that he has become a joke.

The days of the dinosaurs are behind us, this is the 21st century. I did not see or hear anything wrong with Mr. Golding's speech that he has to apologise for. If Mr. Buchanan and the PNP felt offended then that's their prerogative. When his leader was being divisive after the general elections and at their conference, why did he not come out and tell her she needs to apologise to the nation and to the government?

He must learn to call 'a spade a spade'. What is good for the goose is good for the gander.

Land titles

It was reported in the weekly Gleaner that Minister Shaw intends to cut taxes on real estate to stimulate investment in the property market.

Is Jamaica attractive to investors, home and abroad? But for me, land taxes, collecting and issuing of titles can take a lifetime. Ownership of titled land would speed up the building of new houses, shops and commercial buildings.

News is that half the land in Jamaica is not titled land. Speeding up the process could attract investors and keep up with the rest of the world.

'Wanted' photos

The idea of getting assistance from the PSOJ to assist in the finding of wanted criminals may be helpful; however, where are photos of these criminals?

I also mean clear photos. Where are they? Why is the Ministry of Security sleeping? I have made this suggestion so many times since he has assumed office and to no avail. My other concern is this.

Regarding the Constabulary website, why aren't photos of these criminals on the site? Why is the site so unfriendly? The site needs to be so set up that it encourages the public to share information and give ideas also.

Mr. Smith, please do something.
