Milton Brady, the Managing Director of FirstCaribbean International Bank, Jamaica, spent a day recently with members of The Gleaner's Youthlink team. He spoke about his rise to the top in the financial sector and other matters.
Growing up
While growing up in the district of Alva, in St. Ann, Mr. Brady was constantly reminded of the challenges his father faced as a farmer. This was his main motivating factor that developed his indomitable character.
Coming into his own
A past student of the York Castle High School, he said school provided him with a lot of fundamental skills. "I went to school on a scholarship so I was well aware of the opportunity I was given," he said.
After completing high school, he worked odd jobs before migrating to the United States. There, he faced some of the biggest challenges of his life, like having to work during the days and going to night school.
