The Clarendon Crime Prevention Committee on Sunday hosted a Christmas treat for children across the parish.
The treat, which was being hosted for the second year, took place at all 11 police stations across the parish and more than 3,000 children were treated with gifts, clothes and back-to-school items.
Tony Smatt, a May Pen businessman and chairman of the Committee for Christmas Treat, told The Gleaner that "this was done at all police stations across the parish simultaneously, and the children were given food, gifts and back-to-school items and were given the chance to interact with the police".
He added that "the concept of this idea was actually to bring the inner-city children from different parental political persuasions along with their parents together, so that the adults of the future can know that we can all live in peace and harmony together not only at Christmas, but throughout the year".
