LETTER OF THE DAY: Road conditions main cause of accidents
The Editor, Sir:It often bothers me to hear police officers justifying their harassment of commuters by stating that it is excessive speeding that causes road fatalities.
Unheeding governments
The Editor, Sir: It appears that a proclivity exists in Jamaica's national governments to ignore the well-thought-out advice of its citizens, whether recommendations are made individually or from a non governmental organisation (NGO).
Sign of maturity
The Editor, Sir: I am surprised that one of your columnists in The Sunday's Gleaner could pooh pooh the idea of the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition sitting down at Vale Royal or anywhere else to discuss the state of the country and exchange ideas on that issue
No more talks, time for action
The Editor, Sir:I would like to suggest to my fellow countrymen that we do not encourage the two major political parties to enter into talks to achieve consensus among them. We had political campaigns, debates and elections.
Halting the guns
For many months I have been reminding everyone about the way Air Jamaica is treated by the United States whenever illegal drugs is found on any of its planes.
No hide and seek
Regarding thes investment schemes, the mere suggestion to have these companies' debts converted into preference shares is ludicrous.
