The Editor, Sir:Are you for real, Mr Golding? I understand that you have made promises to the people of Jamaica and you want to keep them. I, however, believe that it is very irresponsible for you to remove the small fees for hospital service. The government is broke, the hospitals as they are, can hardly find the basic necessities to operate efficiently. How do you plan to fund this institution? You are cutting off money from a very important institution without putting any form of tangible source to replace it. What if the economy does not improve? Don't get me wrong, I like the idea, but I am not impressed at this moment.I am poor and my mother and family live in Manchester, so I am not totally against the idea, but not at this time. I am worried about some of the decisions that you have already made. These same poor people find the money to buy the most expensive brand name clothing and expensive phones. I would rather pay the small fee and get better service, than to pay no fee and get a bad service. Mr Golding, when you make a decision, make it because it is right, not because it is politically correct.I am sorry for these nurses.I am, etc.,E.A.
