ACCLAIMED American film-maker Martin Scorsese is to produce a documentary on the life of reggae legend, Bob Marley.
The film is scheduled to be completed by February 6, 2010, which would have been the singer's 65th birthday.
Ziggy Marley, Marley's eldest son, told the New Zealand Herald newspaper that he was excited that Scorsese will be doing the project.
"I am thrilled that the Marley family will finally have the opportunity to document our father's legacy and we are truly honoured to have Scorsese guide the journey," Ziggy Marley said.
Scorsese is one of Hollywood's great directors. His films include Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Gangs of New York, The Aviator and The Last Temptation of Christ.
Taxi Driver and Raging Bull starred an upcoming actor named Robert DeNiro. Both films made him a star.
DeNiro is also producer of the documentary The Blues, which documents the influence that sound has on popular music.
