published: Tuesday | April 1, 2008

BARTLETT

Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett will depart Jamaica on Friday, April 11, for a two-week mission to China, Japan and Dubai. The minister will be accompanied by Carrole Guntley, director general; Basil Smith, director of tourism; David Shields, deputy director of tourism (marketing), Heinz Simonitsch, JAMVAC board member with responsibility for Asian market development, and representatives of Air Jamaica and SuperClubs.

Double-digit growth

The visit is seen as critical to Bartlett's vision of achieving double-digit growth for the Jamaican industry.

The minister, along with his delegation, will attend the China Outbound Travel and Tourism Market ( at the China World Trade Centre, Beijing, where he will address the April 14 opening ceremony. On April 15, Bartlett will update tour operators and other travel partners about ongoing developments at a special presentation.

While in China, Minister Bartlett is also expected to hold talks with the vice-minister responsible for international affairs at the China Civil Aviation Body and visit a number of the Olympic sites.
