Meaning of dual citizenship
published: Tuesday | May 13, 2008

The Editor, Sir:

First of all, I would like some-one to tell me exactly what dual citizenship means? From my point of view, it means being a citizen of two countries. This means that one can be a citizen of the US and Jamaica at the same time. It doesn't mean that I am only a US citizen.

What power then does the Jamaican half of the citizenship hold? Someone needs to answer that question. For weeks I have been reading different views and persons seem to love writing without doing their homework. For all who write lies, the US actually allows people with dual citizenship to hold public offices, con-gressional representatives and all. What they don't allow is for someone with dual citizenship to be the president and other high- level positions.

Jamaicans need to know the truth so they can make proper decisions.

I am, etc.,

WAYNE
