Animals ill-treated
published: Tuesday | May 13, 2008

THE EDITOR, Sir:

IT IS with much concern and disgust that I write to you to highlight the cruelty being carried out on our defenceless animals, by the youths of the inner city, today. Animals, especially dogs, are being ill-treated daily by the children while adults look on and cheer with delight.

Animal cruelty

It has become a sport for them. There is no guidance to instil in them that cruelty towards animals is just wrong. Puppies have been stoned, beaten with whips and eventually killed.

These same children grow up with the mentality that if you are against something or someone you should get rid of them. This is why so much crime is being carried out in these areas.

We need to find a way to instil into the minds of our children that animals have feelings too and that it is a sin in the eyes of man and God to ill-treat animals. They need to think about their actions before it is too late.

I am, etc.,

J JOHNSON
