Tuesdaytalk - HOTTEST TOPICS ON THE COCKTAIL CIRCUIT
published: Tuesday | May 27, 2008

Moving on

1. For a time it looked like the politician had found her groove again. After all, she had landed one of the most eligible bachelors around town. But recent reports suggest that things have soured. It appears that too many late-night meetings with her colleague and the expensive gifts were too much for the boyfriend to take, and being a proud man he decided to cut and run rather than be ridiculed by friends.

Come over and help us

2. Jamaica's most admired status is not about to change anytime soon. Caribbean neighbours recognise that this fair isle is the leader in so many aspects of culture, business, etc. Recently, The Bahamas called in a noted IT firm to transform the island's health insurance service, following the Jamaican model and, of course, not too long ago, Guyana called in the Electoral Office of Jamaica for guidance. Way to go!

Shuffling the deck

3. If walls could talk! Harsh words over perceived conflict of interest caused a stir at the headquarters recently. But as far as some persons were concerned, professionals must do their job and this should in no way interfere with their political duties. Not everyone is buying this argument though. There is every indication that some party officials will be reassigned very soon.

This one is over too

4. The marriage is off, for the queen felt rather humiliated when she learnt of the other woman. And even though he keeps assuring her that she is the chosen one, she is finding it hard to swallow her pride and pretend that all is well. Those in the know say she has finally decided to move out. They expect that when she returns from her latest junket, the movers will be there to cart it all off to her old apartment.

Groupie's rebuff

5. The groupie arrived at the New Kingston destination, expecting to demonstrate her skill, but she was not amused when she found that she was late for two others were ahead of her. Patrons described the mother of all quarrels. In the end, no one had any joy for the intended object of their affection had to beat a hasty retreat.
