  • 5 - Activities that singles can engage in

Being single is not a bad thing; it's a time to cater to numero uno - YOU. Everyone needs to understand and appreciate one's needs, one's personality. However, to achieve this, one should do things and go places that's fitting for the single life. These are just a few activities we suggest:

    - Karaoke bar

    - Games night

    - Gym/aerobics session

    - Concerts/stage shows

    - Movies (with or without friends)

  • 4 - Cartoon classics that hit the big screen:

They made us laugh and had our undivided attention during our childhood. Some were so successful that they just had to upgrade to movies. These cartoons could not help but make the crossover to the widescreens of Hollywood.

    - Flintstones - This cartoon series was aired for six years from 1960-1966 and had reruns decades later. The movie, directed by Brian Levant, premiered on the big screen in 1994.

    - Scooby Doo - 'Scooby Doo, where are you?' was the famous tag line of this cartoon series that aired from 1969-1972 and also had re-runs for decades. It was not until the new millennium in 2002 that the movie was finally released.

    - Fantastic Four - There were three different releases of this series - 1967-1968, 1978-1979 and, most recently, 1994-1996. Hence it's no surprise that producers had not one, but two movie releases, in 2005 and 2007, that did well at the box office.

    - The Pink Panther - This sly cartoon character lasted on the TV screens from 1969-1976. The first movie was actually not the 2006 release version featuring Beyoncé and Steve Martin, but the 1964 classic starring Peter Sellers as the bumbling inspector. Who knew that?

  • 3 - Alternative sources of energy to consider

Earth is getting older and the natural resources are rapidly depleting. Before we know it, there will be nothing left; well, that's if we begin to utilise more alternative sources of energy.

    - Geothermal - is energy generated by heat stored beneath the Earth's surface or the collection of absorbed heat in the atmosphere and oceans.

    - Wave - extracts energy directly from the surface motion of ocean waves or from pressure fluctuations below the surface. This can be used to generate enough energy for electricity.

    - Biogas - a gas produced by the biological breakdown of organic matter in the absence of oxygen and can be used as a low-cost fuel in any country for any heating purpose, such as cooking.

  • 2 - Common ailments found among Jamaican men and women

    - Prostate cancer - This illness is considered to have the highest incidence of fatality among Caribbean men. Unfortunately, many with the disease do not get screened because they consider rectal exams too invasive.

    - Cervical cancer - Although it is one of the most easily preventable, detectable and treatable cancers, many Jamaican women unfortunately die from this illness.

  • 1 - Problem everyone wishes they could live without

Debt - Maxed credit cards, loan defaults and poor investments are just some of the means of plunging headlong into poverty. No one likes being in debt but, face it, how else can most of us make major capital investments and purchase the necessities of life. But one should exercise careful money-management skills to avoid going belly up.
