LETTER OF THE DAY - Value of Vale Royal summitry challenged
The Editor, Sir: In recent comments on radio, the highly respected Mr Frank Phipps, QC, speaking for himself and the venerable Farquharson Institute, expressed strong doubts about the value of the Vale Royal bipartisan process, advancing the view that it should be scrapped.

Postal theft 'clarified'

THE EDITOR, Sir: I refer to a letter published in The Gleaner on Friday, June 6, entitled 'Postal Theft'. It is unfortunate that any postal service customer is unhappy: we aim to please every customer.

Concern about new police gun

THE EDITOR, Sir: I saw and read with concern, the picture of the NEW MP5 gun and the headline of the story, 'Less deadly police weapons arrive' on page A4 of last Sunday's Gleaner. In my opinion, this will certainly make for a field day for the gunmen.

Stop playing the blame game

THE EDITOR, Sir: Whenever something goes wrong, we tend to shift blame from ourselves to another person. It is time we stopped playing the blame game and focused on moving forward. Evidently this is what has been going on between political parties.

On collecting back taxes

THE EDITOR, Sir: If the Government plans to collect the taxes to finance the budget, they definitely need to retrain the staff at the Tax Office.

Noteworthy

As a motorist who has to drive on the busy highway to Spanish Town daily, I am asking parents to please teach their children to use the overhead bridge to cross the road instead of risking their lives by trying to cross the busy highway by Central Village.
