No peace with guns still there
published: Thursday | June 19, 2008

The Editor, Sir:

I want to say something about the peace that has been signed in the community of August Town. I have been a member of the community for more than 30 years, and every time for the past seven years, or more, they have been doing this, and each time the war breaks out worse than before. I do not call it a peace, it is just a ceasefire for now until they are ready again.

There can be no peace in August Town while the bad men still have their guns; and since there have been discussions about peace, there has been a lot of stupidity going on. Houses and businesses have been robbed, people have been held up and robbed at gunpoint.

Peaceful place

The gunmen are coming from other places like Hermitage, Goldsmith Villa and along Manley Avenue, molesting the residents.

Manley Avenue is a very quiet and peaceful place, except that this is where the gunmen use for their getaway point when doing wrong because the road leads to every street in August Town. We need more police to patrol the area more often.

As a member of the community for 36 years, this is the worse period.

Please do not publish my name.

I am, etc.,

Resident, Manley Avenue.
