Queries about employee contributions
published: Tuesday | July 8, 2008

The Editor, Sir:

I would really love to know if by cruel purpose any company who feels like not paying over hard-earned money, be it to a bank, a credit union or a building society etc for any worker in its employ cannot be, by law, ordered to redeem the employee's account?

The employee has all supporting pay slips to prove his contribution and has faithfully visited the receiving credit union only to be told the money has not yet arrived, but when it does, everything will be all right.

Sudden death

In the event of a sudden death of the employee's next of kin, the employee thinking that all is well makes a claim only to be told, "Your insurance has lapsed."

Could there be one gifted law engineer who reads this blessed newspaper with an eye for evil tricks like this, who could kindly return just a minute to peep into this atrocity so that Jamaicans, under God, will prosper in peace.

I am, etc.,

CECIL ROBINSON
