Reading centre opened in Chapelton
published: Wednesday | July 9, 2008

MAY PEN, Clarendon:

A reading centre was opened in Chapelton last Thursday at the Bernadette Preparatory School on Main Street, Chapelton.

The centre was funded by the Environmental Foundation (EFJ) of Jamaica, who sponsored, the erection of a container office, along with a television, printers and a DVD player. The EFJ also provided a fenced play area at the school for the children, along with playground equipment.

Speaking at the opening of the centre, guest speaker Dr Blossom Rose, a master teacher in reading, emphasised the importance of reading to individuals and added that a child who is unable to read would not be able to learn in other subject areas.
