The value of family

The Editor, Sir:

A few days ago my wife and I met with a young woman who is the victim of a number of unfortunate choices. How we wished we had access to your Letter of the Day on the value of the family.

Jamaica needs to be forcefully reminded of the values derived from proper family living. In addition, Jamaica needs to be reminded that this is still achievable, even where bad choices may have been made in the past.

commitment

The social experiment with family life is parasitic in that it depends on heterosexual relationships for survival. Thirty-five years ago my wife and I got married in Kingston. That understanding of commitment has shaped every area of our lives and is now influencing our three adult children.

Today, our world is a better place to live because millions of us rejected the social experiments and chose a path that is compatible with our biological makeup and could duplicate itself.
