ST JOHN'S, Antigua (CMC):
Antigua's Prime Minister Baldwin Spencer Wednesday night announced a series of measures designed to curb crime and violence, on the heels of a shooting that left a British tourist dead and her husband fighting for his life.
In a 15-minute national address, he unveiled plans to tighten immigration procedures and practices, as well as enact legislation to monitor deportees to Antigua and Barbuda and deport convicted criminals from the twin-island nation.
He added that the police and military will be partnering to rid the country of illegal guns and drugs.
