The Editor, Sir:This is an open letter of gratitude to Dr Patricia Holness of the Registrar General's Department (RGD), which I would appreciate being published so that the country can know that despite the difficulties and complaints heard daily through the media, tremendous work is still being done by herself and her dedicated staff. Thank you.
Hello Dr Holness,
I wish to express my profound gratitude to you and the staff of the RGD for the tremendous assistance you gave to me when I sought to obtain the birth certificate of my mother, Mildred Cameron, now 76 years old, and subsequently her corrected marriage certificate, which initially had an incorrect age stated on it.
I had previously written to you in my capacity as the chief procurement officer at the Ministry of Education.
Remarkable staff
After many years of trying, thanks to you and your remarkable staff, she finally received her birth certificate on July 3, 2008, and the corrected marriage certificate on Monday, July 28, 2008.
I would personally like to thank Mrs Adlam, who went beyond the call of her normal duties to assist me. She was always courteous and professional as she dealt with my 'many' enquiries. She is truly an asset to your organisation and I do hope that she will be justly rewarded via promotion in due course.
My mother has also asked me to convey her heartfelt gratitude to you and your staff.
I am, etc,
LEON L. FRASER
