Thursdaytalk - HOTTEST TOPICS ON THE COCKTAIL CIRCUIT

Time to pack his bags

1. They say friends of the wife of the fallen one are advising her that now is the time to pack his bags and ask him to leave the matrimonial home. Others are saying she has already begun speaking to her lawyers about securing her rights to all of the properties acquired during the marriage.

Left in the lurch

2. No surprise that everyone is now running for cover. What some find disturbing is that they quietly withdrew their funds without a word of caution to others, leaving them in the lurch, while still claiming to be 'friends'. Needless to say, this is not going down well at all, as old friends are now instituting lawsuits to try and recover funds from those who opted out.

What really happened?

3. Were some politicians tipped off to the perilous state of the group and allowed to withdraw their funds or not?

What's up with the wife?

4. Some are asking how it is that the self-promoting businessman never shows up anywhere with his wife, despite being married for years. Some of those who know him in business circles say, despite having 'known' him for upwards of a decade, they have never met the wife, even though she is supposedly an integral part of the business.

Gone to her head

5. Some are saying the power has now gone to the wife's head, as she is hardly on speaking terms with anyone, especially women of substance, as she has now surrounded herself with a bunch of 'bhuttos' and yes-women.

Results are in

6. The DNA results are in and the results seemed to have shocked even the mother, as they prove clearly the alleged father is not the biological father. They say she is now considering a lawsuit against the hospital, claiming there was a mix-up in the maternity ward resulting with her going home with the wrong baby! Right!

Out of her range

7. The shriek, followed by the cry, "In the name of Jesus!", saw shoppers in the upscale supermarket rushing over to a certain aisle to investigate what was the cause of the disturbance. They found a mother and child shopping; the mother holding up an item that was clearly out of her price range, and hence, the shriek. Some laughed. One good Samaritan paid her bill without any fanfare.

Meddlers not wanted

8. Some are now referring to her as the 'Baby Elephant'. Others know her as 'Miss Piggy'. But whatever name she is known by, she is still regarded by all as a meddlesome character, who is a hindrance to the smooth operational flow of the organisation, and the industry players want her out.

Looking over their shoulders

9. It's from the frying pan straight into the fire for some, as word is that many acted as middlemen, creaming off two-percentage points of the windfall into their own coffers. They are now walking and looking over their shoulders, and some have gone into hiding, as some say the IRS is now investigating them for undeclared income or money laundering.

Good going against corruption

10. Rank-and-file members are happy that there seems to be a will to attack corruption within the organisation. They now want the powers that be to proceed against others who are reputed to be owners of multimillion-dollar homes in the hills, and others who own fleets of motor vehicles used illegally on the roadways every day.
