Knights, Bulls ready for showdown
published: Saturday | August 9, 2008

Port Royal Bulls will look to level the score against defending champions Urban Knights, as the league's top two teams meet in the KFC National Basketball League (NBL) mid-season final at the National Stadium courts, beginning at 8:00 p.m. today.

The Bulls have been creating a stir since coming into top flight basketball. In fact, boasting several players with tons of experience like Paul Oliphant, Leighton Meeks and Damion Young, despite being promoted this year, the only team able to put an end to their impressive winning streak was the Knights. Today they will look to return the favour.

not intimidated

"Everybody is looking forward to tomorrow's game. This is the first opportunity that we have as a team to win some silverware this season," said Bulls coach Oneil Williams.

"Yes they have beaten us before, but we aren't intimidated, we will be looking to correct our mistakes and come today they will be facing a different team," he added.

According to Knights coach Kevin Alexander, the defending champs have no intention of surrendering a title opportunity or even a winning streak, anytime soon.

"We had a number of objectives headed into this season. Remaining unbeaten was one of them, and we intend to keep it that way," said Alexander, whose team will be anchored from the centre position by captain Andrew Wilby.

"This is a title match, we know they are an experienced team so we will have to give it our all."

He added: "A final can be anybody's game, but if we play within our system and play as a team we should be home and dry." he said.
