Kite master
published: Tuesday | August 12, 2008

1. Jason on his way to the perfect spot to fly his kite. - photos by Ian Allen/Staff Photographer

During the summer, children's imagination take flight with their kites. Not only those bought in beautiful packages, but also handmade ones. These kites are constructed from plastic bags and bamboo, with tails made from scraps of cloth, just the right weight to keep the beautiful creations airborne.

On a recent trip to Sturge Town in St Ann, photographer Ian Allen caught little Jason Dickenson launching his creation.

2. Though much bigger than him, Jason's kite will float like a feather with the right breeze.

3. Jason untangles his strings to get his kite ready.

4. If the strings become tangled the kite will not leave the ground.

5. Jason makes one final check and his kite is ready.

6. Jason hoists his kite to catch the wind.

7. It takes off and is on its way.
