Each year, The Gleaner Company Ltd, through its Honour Awards, recognises the initiative, courage and achievements of persons who have helped to improve Jamaica's quality of life. In 2006, in the category of sports, representatives of all trainers and administrators were hailed for their contribution to Jamaica's continuing prominence in international athletics. Those receiving the Gleaner Honour Awards were the Hon Mike Fennell, the Hon Neville 'Teddy' McCook, Stephen Franics, Fitz Coleman, Maurice Wilson, Raymond K.C. Graham, Dennis Johnson and Glen Mills.
