Kudos to KPH
I was admitted to Ward Three East at the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH) on Friday, May 2, for surgery on my stomach, due to injuries suffered in an attack at my home.
I have always been apprehensive of going to a hospital for any reason, but ended up at KPH. I am very glad I did so this time around as it proved to very beneficial.
I would like to express my thanks and gratitude to the doctors and nursing staff of Ward Three East, as they showed me what caring for each other really means.
Special thanks to Dr Walcott. She always had a pleasant smile for me that somehow made me feel that I was being looked after by an angel.

Stifling business
It is painful and embarrassing for me to see how the cancer of extortion is not only stifling the efforts of small entrepreneurs, but is causing the loss of gainful employment to many when some of those being extorted have to close their business.
One calls to mind a similar cancer that affected the United States when the Mafia extorted businesses especially in the olive oil industry. We all know what J. Edgar Hoover did to rid the country of such scum.
I am at a loss to understand how Jamaica is not able to deal with this curse and has allowed it to flower and in the process destroy worthwhile Jamaicans.

Clean up the indiscipline
I love Jamaica very much, but I just can't take the indiscipline and lack of civic pride that are hurting Jamaica.
How can we allow a few thugs to control a whole community and then the prime minister is asking Jamaicans abroad to invest in Jamaica? First he must clean it up.
Why would any one want to go through such problems when they could put their money in some safe securities and watch it grow. Why is so much lawlessness allowed to go on in such a small place?

Air Jamaica headaches
I was at the Sir Lynden Pindling International Airport on Sunday and it was total chaos and frustration.
It was not only that flights for last Thursday and Friday had been cancelled because of the tropical storm, but the constant delay in flights every time Air Jamaica was supposed to arrive and leave Nassau.
I can understand why the Government is trying its best to privatise the airline and probably trying to cut back on costs. Until the airline is sold, however, it is not fair to inconvenience people consistently.
