The Editor, Sir:Please allow me space to express my concerns over the level of maturity of the persons elected as representatives of the people of Jamaica.
I notice a dangerous pattern (the latest being September 3) where at various meetings be it parish council, Parliament or otherwise and for whatever reason there is a disagreement, these politicians would just 'shake their tails' and simply walk out. This must stop.
What if my co-worker, my boss, a family member or better yet my pastor and I have a disagreement , should I just walk out of the meeting or should I decently sit and at least try to resolve the matter in an amicable way? Mark, you we will not always agree.
A foreign reporter commenting on Usain Bolt's reaction to winning the races at the recently held Olympic Games and not knowing much about this particular dance move dubbed the 'nuh linga', later explained in a deep foreign accent, "the term 'nuh linga' means- no lingering or better yet - no hanging around". This seems to be the attitude of politicians including government ministers who supposedly are servants of the people. If people on the other side of the fence are not in agreement with you - it is simple a case of " nuh linga" - walk out. The public expects better.
I am, etc.,
