FRANCISCO PALENCIA scored two second-half goals and set up another after missing a penalty kick as Mexico's Pumas downed Harbour View of Jamaica 3-0 to advance to the CONCACAF Champions League group stage.

Palencia missed the penalty in the 35th minute, but scored goals in the 65th and 91st minutes and set up another in the 88th for Pumas, who moved on to Group B of the tournament along with the America's Houston Dynamo, Luis Angel Firpo from El Salvador and Panama's San Francisco, who earlier got a 5-0 win over Guatemala's Jalapa.

better team

Pumas looked the better team from the start at the Estadio Olimpico, but missed several scoring chances in the first 15 minutes on shots by Palencia, Alex Diego and Fernando Morales, who was tackled inside the box in the 30th by goalkeeper Dwayne Miller.

Palencia took a shot that went above the goalie and Pumas suffered on the offensive side until the 65th, when Chiapas send a cross that goalkeeper Michaud Barrett could not control and Palencia used the rebound to strike.

Palencia send a cross from the right side to Chiapas, who was all alone inside the box and did not have trouble converting the goal three minutes later, and Palencia took an 18-metre shot in the final minute to seal the win.
