Thousands of children are set to benefit from a playground to be constructed on a section of the lands of the National Heroes Park. This comes as the Early Childhood Commission (ECC) has successfully forged a partnership with Campus Crusade for Christ and Kids Around the World. The play equipment, valued at approximately US$100,000 (approximately $7.2 million) is being donated free of charge to the country. Construction of the 102 x 60 feet facility is scheduled to take place during the week of September 21 to 26 with the help of volunteers from the surrounding communities as well as representatives of Game Time Inc, manufacturers of the play equipment. Volunteers representing the donor agencies will also aid in the construction process.
Campus Crusade for Christ is an inter-denominational Christian organisation, with a local office in Jamaica, while Kids around the World is an international non-profit organisation which has a vision of providing safe-play equipment for children.
Since the start of their affiliation in 2003, Campus Crusade for Christ and Kids around the World have installed scores of playgrounds in communities worldwide.
