The Rev Dr Aaron Dumas: 'To have a happy relationship, you should choose the right partner.'
The second staging of The Gleaner-sponsored conference, Men on a Mission, brought together a wide cross-section of men under the theme - Man enough for the times.
A group from the Majesty Gardens community, led by Pastor Richard Chang braved gang warfare at home to make it to the event.
The 13-member team was determined to participate in the conference because its members felt inner-city men are often overlooked at such stagings.
Men travelled from as far away as Montego Bay in the west and Portland in the east to the Slipe Road-based Emmanuel Apostolic Church to listen to speakers: Bishop Peter Morgan, Bishop Everton Thomas and Rev Dr Aaron Dumas.
Useful, powerful information
The desire to learn how to be better men, leaders and partners was satisfied with useful and powerful information from the presenters and participants through scheduled discussions.
The very lively exchanges about a man's role in the household brought some men to their feet as they put forward strong opinions on the best way to choose the right partner.
Men were also very vocal about how to develop and execute life plans within the challenges of the current financial realities.
For the attendees, the success of the event went beyond the depth and range of the presentations, but was also evident in the social mix of the audience and the fact that the discussions cut across class differences and was inclusive.
Today, we bring you more highlights.
