Scotiabank looking to settle score
published: Saturday | October 4, 2008

Robert Bailey, Gleaner Writer

Defending champions General Accident will oppose Scotiabank 'A' in today's top-of-the-table clash of the Locker Room Sports/Business House senior league netball competition, starting at 6 p.m. at The Queen's School in St Andrew.

In the other Senior League games, the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) will take on Air Jamaica, also at the same time; and Jamaica Broilers tackle National Commercial Bank (NCB) 'A' at 4:45p.m. Both matches will be played at St Hugh's High in Cross Roads.

Unbeaten

General Accident, who are unbeaten this season, leads the standings with 24 points followed by Scotiabank (18), Jamaica Broilers (12), JCF (nine), NCB 'A' (six), while Air Jamaica are pointless.

Wayne Shaw, assistant manager of Scotiabank 'A', is very optimistic about his team's chances.

"We are very confident because in the last game that we played against them they only beat us by one point, this after they were leading us by nine points," said Shaw.

Shaw added that his team would be without their national representative, Nichala Gibson, who is out for the rest of the season with a knee injury.

General Accident, who are aiming for their ninth consecutive victory, will be depending heavily on national representative Nadine Bryan and former national player Oberon Pitterson.

In Junior League action, Pan Caribbean oppose Lasco and Jamaica Flour Mills entertain Norman Manley International Airport. Both matches start at 2:30p.m.

In Senior B action at 3:30p.m., Grant Stewart Phillips battle Heart Trust NTA and Guardian await NEM Insurance.
