Call for the Ananda Alert
published: Saturday | October 25, 2008

The Editor, Sir:

For too long, Jamaican children have fallen prey to the murderers and other 'monsters'. In order to facilitate the capture of these criminals the Ananda Alert must be implemented with much urgency.

Phone system

Even though this is modelled from America's Amber Alert we could adapt this to the Jamaican scene. Since there are not many highways in Jamaica, the phone system could be used instead.

The Ananda Alert would be effective if it is incorporated with all the phone systems in Jamaica. As soon as a child goes missing all the information about the child would be text to phones.

This would be effective since almost all Jamaicans have access to a phone. It is also an effective measure since it's one of the quickest ways to get the information to the public. It has been proven that time is of the essence in the case of missing people.

The phone companies would work in tandem with the police in dispatching the information. There could also be a specific ringtone for missing children.

It is time to come to the rescue of our children.

I am, etc.,
