JAMAICA's assistant coach, Annette Daley, says the Sunshine Girls will not be taking the upcoming tri-nation series against South Africa and Trinidad and Tobago lightly.

The series will take place at the National Indoor Sports Complex from November 10-13.

"This is a very important series for us and we are intent on getting maximum points from it," said Daley, in an interview with The Gleaner, following the selection of its squad on Tuesday.

The Sunshine Girls, who are ranked number four in the world, captured the bronze medal, beating England in the third place play-off at the last World Championships, in Auckland, New Zealand.

However, based on a revised rankings system they were rated as fourth in the world on the basis of an earlier 3-0 loss to England in a practice series.

"Trinidad and Tobago and South Africa are ranked below us, and so we have to make sure that we win this series to gain all the points. If they win, they will gain more points than if we win," said Daley.

"We can't take them lightly because South Africa have been playing well and they also recently defeated Barbados in their last series and we have to ensure that we get the better of them to help improve our ranking."

Under-21 members

The team, which will be led by Simone Forbes, also includes four members of Jamaica's Under-21 squad, which is currently preparing for the World Youth Championships, to be held in Cook Islands next year.

They are Christina Solmon, Vanessa Walker, Sateva Taylor and Malysha Kelly.

The other players are Romelda Aiken, Althea Byfield, Paula Thompson, Nicole Aiken, Sabrina Spence and Tracey-Ann Robinson.
