THE EDITOR, Sir:

I have sent this open letter from Marlie Hill United men's Fellowship to the CEO of Digicel:

Dear Sir: On August 18, 2008, I faxed a petition from the citizens of Marlie Hill to your company, seeking to get an additional tower erected in our community or for the one which was erected within the proximity with the intention of service be boosted. After waiting for some time and not getting a response, I called customer care. This was on September 9. I was asked to call 619-5000, which I did. The gentleman to whom I spoke assured me the matter would be dealt with, that someone would be sent to the community to assess the situation, but he could not say precisely how soon.

A significant number of Digicel customers within this community (as well as passers-by) cannot make or get calls in their homes or other places within the community, despite the fact that there is a tower just about two kilometres away. The essentiality of communication is paramount to everyone, and, domestic matters apart, with the crime situation what it is now, we would love to be able to make speedy communication should this need, or that from other malady, arise.

Through this medium we once more implore your company to address our situation with some greater amount of earnest.
