C Spring, D Park in big showdown
published: Saturday | November 15, 2008

Kwesi Mugisa, Staff Reporter

Constant Spring will face Duhaney Park while Brown's Town battle Rae Town, as the four remaining teams in the preliminary round of the Western Union KSAFA Jackie Bell competition look to book their place in the quarter-finals today.

Duhaney Park, the first non-Premier League team to have won the title and having made an appearance in last year's semi-final, will be hoping to stay on course to at least equal those exploits.

However, a resurgent Constant Spring, who will have among their targets a return to top-flight football, should pose a serious challenge.

"Right now, we are feeling very confident. Going into this game we will be looking to give 120 per cent because we are really looking forward to making the next round," said Constant Spring general manager, Eric Brown.

"They are another Super League team and we will be competing with them for promotion this season, so we cannot underestimate them. We're definitely looking to take this one home," he added.

Duhaney Park's manager, Conrad Morrison, is also wary of their opponents, but like Brown, believes his team has what it takes to get through to the quarter-final round.

"We haven't seen a lot of them this season, but we know they are a quality team and as a result have a lot of respect for them, nonetheless, I think we have been playing well enough to win," he said.

Firepower

"The team is looking to go out there today, be entertaining and play some good attacking football. I think we have enough firepower to get the job done," he added.

Constant Spring will be without attacking midfielder Damarley Powell, who picked up a red card in the team's midweek fixture, a 1-0 win over Maxfield Park.

In the day's other game, high-flying Rae Town, who crushed Super League representative Bull Bay in last week's action, will be looking to be the Major League team to force their way into the last four when they play Brown's Town at Vauxhall High School.

The teams will be joined in the quarter-finals by Premier League teams Waterhouse, Tivoli Gardens, Boys' Town, Arnett Gardens, Meadheaven United and defending champions Harbour View.

Today's games

Duhaney Park vs Constant Spring at Duhaney Park field at 3 p.m.

Bull Bay vs Brown's Town at Vauxhall High School at 3 p.m.
