THE EDITOR, Sir:AFTER READING your editorial on Friday, November 14, I was left wondering what precipitated such an intemperate outburst. The zeal expressed therein to ride rough-shod over the views of many in this society on abortion is not sur-prising. Neither is it surprising that the editorial repeats a falsehood that has become a mantra of pro-abortionists, that is, "That most abortions in Jamaica have been largely unprofessional backroom operations that put at risk too many of the women who seek to terminate pregnancies." This is a patent falsehood and I challenge your newspaper to show one shred of evidence otherwise.
Misunderstanding
As for your so-called scientific evidence about viability of foetuses, I can only say you have a profound misunderstanding of what constitutes scientific evidence. Rant and rave as much as you wish about religious zealots, but please do not make uninformed and erroneous statements and misguide the public.
I trust you will have the courage to publish a letter which challenges your unproven notions passing as facts. Come on, do better than that!
I am, etc.,
