GEORGETOWN, Guyana (CMC):

Barbados lead the points table with nine points from two matches, following three rounds of matches in the WICB Cup one-day tournament here.

They boast a net run rate of +1.43 after beating defending champions Jamaica in their opening game last Thursday and returning to hammer the United States and take a bonus point in their rain-affected second-round match last Friday.

Trinidad and Tobago, who had to settle for one point from their washed-out, second-round game, after taking a bonus point from their first match against the Leewards, are in second position on six points, with a net run rate of +1.71.

Third in the standings

Leeward Islands are third in the standings, also on six points from two matches but with a net run rate of +1.41, after beating Canada in their opening game and collecting two bonus points. They lost to Trinidad and Tobago in their next match, however.

Combined Campuses and Colleges, who beat the Windward Islands and snatched a bonus point after losing to Guyana in their first game, are fourth, with five points and a net run rate of +0.58, while the Windward Islands and Guyana are locked on four points each from two games.

Net run rate

Defending champions Jamaica have just a single point from two games, at a net run rate of -0.42, due to their first-round loss to Barbados and their washed-out game against the US.

North American sides Canada and the US are also on one point each from two matches but with a worse net run rate.

Yesterday was a rest day in the competition but action will resume today with Canada facing Jamaica at Bourda, Trinidad and Tobago clashing with the US at Enmore, and Barbados battling the Leeward Islands at Uitvlugt.
