NOTE-WORTHY

  • Protecting marriage

It was very encouraging to read the article 'Defending marriage' by Peter Espeut. As a citizen of the United States, I have been so ashamed to see the immoral state of mind that the people are so carelessly caught up in.

Marriage should be protected and preserved because it is a sacred union; and there is nothing sacred and righteous about homosexuals. I applaud this article to the highest level because this is not just about religion, but also it protects children who would be adopted into these so-called unions.

We as a people need to remember what happened to Sodom and Gomorrah in the old days, and realise that what was an abomination then is still an abomination today. The churches need to wake up and start proclaiming what is right.

  • Strong message

I do agree that keeping the death penalty will not reduce murders. But if we hang even one dozen of these convicted murderers in quick succession, it will send a strong message that the Government means business.

These murderers know that there are people like those in the human-rights groups who will keep on lobbying for them, but people are hurting and the nation is held hostage by a few undesirables.

Keep in mind that there are other things needed to heal our society, but there are some who will continue to prey on us even when we have the best of intentions to help these situations.

  • History quest

I would like to get in touch with the Hanover Historical Society and Museum as its website is not working. My late brother, Ian Robinson, has a reading room there in his memory, containing his research material, which I and my mother opened 12 years ago.

The society obviously does not have the money or web expertise to keep up the website. I and my English family would like to help in keeping Ian's work in Jamaican history alive. Please make the relevant people involved informed.
