Models moved to the beat of the music while wearing sophisticated designs at Island Couture: Rhythm of Jamaican Fashion at the Hilton Hotel, New Kingston, on Sunday night.
After the welcome, there was soulful music from the Kingston-based Akwaabe Drummers.
The first member of the Jamaica Fashion and Apparel Cluster to display designs was Yola Gray. Strutting to Beautiful by Junior Gong and Bobby Brown, Pulse models captured the full attention of the audience in colourful swimwear and dresses. Gray remarkably combined fabrics; mixing sheer, mesh, cotton and spandex.
What are you wearing'
The host Kerry-Ann 'Kiki' Lewis, was most engaging as she gave away prizes to guests who participated in the 'what are you wearing' campaign, which is aimed at promoting local designers.
With clothes and hair blowing in the wind, the models displayed simple, elegant outfits from Les Campbell. Songs such as Beyonce's Beautiful Nightmare and Rihanna's Don't Stop the Music being played by DJ Rush provided the perfect rhythm for the models to walk and for the audience to rock.

Then, there was more passionate drumming from the Akwaabe Drummers. It was a refreshing experience as the drummers moved to the rhythm, sometimes screaming and making their words inaudible and even frightening the guests.
Near the end of the show, it was time for designs from the trendy Keneea Linton. Her pieces excited the audience, which cheered for almost every design. Though in dark colours, the designs brought light to the event.
To the audience's surprise, Timberlee shouted, "Weh mi hot gal dem deh?" before taking the stage to sing Bubble Like Soup. Afterwards, she made a transition to one of her newest releases Heels. Her short stint was well-received.
Not a model but in fact a designer, Juliette Dyke of Julan shows off one of her outfits at the end of the Island Couture fashion show on Sunday at the Hilton Kingston.
