NLA urges Jamaicans to collect land titles

THOUSANDS OF Jamaicans who purchased land under the Government's Land Settlement Schemes are yet to collect their titles, despite attempts by the National Land Agency (NLA) to contact them.

The NLA, in another attempt at delivering about 6,000 titles, says it will publish the names of persons who had acquired lots islandwide.

For years, Jamaicans acquired lots in all parishes under the scheme, but have not collected their titles from the NLA.

Letters sent out

Director of legal services at the NLA, Lois Bourne, told The Gleaner yesterday that the agency had sent out letters and made numerous attempts, through its land officers, to reach persons who purchased lots but were unsuccessful.

She is advising the relatives of deceased persons who had purchased lots under the Land Settlement Schemes to contact the NLA's Probate Unit for assistance.
