Christie resigns as head of SDC

Her resignation was made effective December 12, 2008. In a release Tuesday, officials said her resignation was forced by an eye condition for which she has had to be seeking treatment locally and overseas.
She was appointed executive director in May last year.
Whistle-blower
Christie has vehemently denied any wrongdoing since she was named as the whistle-blower in the Trafigura Beheer scandal that rocked the Portia Simpson Miller Cabinet in late 2006 and led to the resignation of government minister, Colin Campbell. Campbell quit after information was leaked that contributions were made by the Dutch oil-trader to an account belonging to the People's National Party.
In Tuesday's statement, Minister of Information Olivia Grange, whose ministry has portfolio responsibility for the SDC, commended Christie for her contribution to the commission during her short-lived tenure.
"The SDC staff members were motivated by the energy she brought to the commission and felt a sense of renewed commitment to fulfilling the SDC's mandate of community development across Jamaica," she said.
