'Tis the season to ban
Published: Tuesday | February 17, 2009
I agree 100 per cent with the Broadcasting Commission for banning the disgusting Rampin' Shop song. In fact, there are a few others I would like to suggest while they are at it: Dutty Wine, Stab Up Di Meat, Squeeze Har Breast Dem, Back It Up ...
I will slow down; there are too many. I have an idea - why not ban the artistes? So here goes: ban Vybz Kartel, Elephant Man, Lady Saw, Macka Diamond, Spice, Yellowman, Shabba, Bounty Killer ... the list goes on.
Better idea
I am tired, too many. I give up. Better idea: ban the people who play the radio that plays the songs of the artistes. Ban IRIE-FM, ban FAME-FM, ban Radio 2, ban POWER-106, ban Miss Ruth at her stall. Ban the taxis, buses, Youtube; MP3 players.
Come to think of it, this banning thing is like a bus going down Mount Rosser without brakes. Feels nice though. Can't stop now. Ban songs that are explicitly talking about guns, sex, gays, life, politics, ... oh well!
Ban all bad words
I really have a good idea now. Only songs that are religious or educational should be aired ... or just ban songs that contain words that replace words that we find offensive? Ban daggering, ban dutty, ban wine. Or only when they are together. Ban all bad words ... too late! ... ban fish!
Come to think of it, why didn't the Broadcasting Commission just have minimum moral standards for their members, and impose sanctions if they are broken? Now there is a better idea.
I am, etc.,
