TAMPA BAY, Florida (CMC):

Kirk Ziadie stayed atop the trainers' standings with one victory Saturday and Andrew Ramgeet rode one winner as the Jamaican pair sustained their prominence in the current Tampa Bay Downs meet.

Ziadie's win with the seven-year-old gelding Otis Ridge in the fourth race was his 29th of the season and moved him two wins clear of Jamie Ness in their trainers' championship race.

Ramgeet won the third race and climbed to sixth in the jockeys' standings.

In the US$20,000 fourth race, top jockey Jose Lezcano guided Otis Ridge to a narrow victory as the 6-to-5 favourite.

Coming from off the pace - seventh leaving the backstretch - in the mile and sixteenth event on turf, Otis Ridge closed rapidly over the last two furlongs to snatch victory by a neck in one minute 42.75 seconds for owner Richard Averill.

Three-way finish

The 8-1 bet Cryptogram was second and Onotheregostotokyo (8-1) was a neck further back in third in a tight three-way finish.

Ramgeet got his win in the US$17,000 third race over 6-1/2 furlongs with the favourite Conchacer.

Using the three-year-old colt to track the leader Begriff (11-2) for the first half of the race, Ramgeet roused the 4-5 choice for a winning run approaching the final turn and grabbed a short lead in the upper stretch.
