Oh my dears, what a fabulous Easter holiday! From Port Antonio in the east, Negril out west, Ocho Rios in the north, Treasure Beach over on the south coast and Linstead in the middle, sweethearts, Jamaica was definitely caught up in the celebration mood for Easter and my dears, not necessarily ecumenical.

But precious angels, a dozen Hail Marys, as we do declare, the party gods were kind, and fabulously so, as not only was it party weather everywhere, this Easter was also celebrating destination Jamaica. Jamaicans went out to celebrate and patronised their favourite resorts.

It was a fabulous weekend all around - the entertainment on offer, the stuff of which urban legends are born. As we speak, some are coming to light, like the one with the DJ who turned up at the all-inclusive party and, with an entourage of 15, attempted to bully his way in. This, even after it was pointed out to him that they did not meet the dress code!

Way to go

As the story goes, they were all denied entry, making the story definitely a case of: Way to go!

And my dears, it's now official - The grand old lady of tourism, Couples Hotel, having undergone a US$30-million facelift, is now ready for business. After being closed, it reopened its doors on the 12th with a new name - Couples Tower Isle!

The Couples flagship resort and all-inclusive hotel has not only undergone extensive renovation, it has been transformed into a place of timeless leisure with such new amenities as its seaside swim-up pool and bar. They have added another four suites, plus an additional 16 ultra-modern and mega-comfortable rooms, tuned up the piano bar, upped the ante with its new and expanded dining veranda, spa and lobby. It belongs in the category of things that make you go ooohhhh!

BIRTHDAYS

And speaking of the way to go, my dears, definitely a case of the way to go as the lovely Laurel Williams deMercado is as stunning as ever today as she celebrates her birthday, and years since gracing the national stage as a celebrated beauty.

Also celebrating his birthday today, April 17, is businessman and philanthropist Milton Weise.

And tomorrow being April 18, sportscaster extraordinaire Simon Crosskill will take birthday honours as the erudite one celebrate his special day!

Come next Friday, however, the famed Brian 'Ribbie' Chung, impresario and bachelor at large Alastair McBeath, the fabulous Suzie Crosbie Bridges, and the lovely Dianne Francis of The Gleaner will all celebrate their birthday.

And on the 25th, almost a month to the day that her mom celebrated her birthday, the beautiful Liane Henry will celebrate her special day.

Champagne wishes all around with beluga treats!

And speaking of fabulous people, places, and things, come tomorrow, April 18, multitalented musician and airline captain Rupert Bent and his fab wife, former Miss World, the oh-so-gorgeous Cindy Breakspeare, celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary.

Media wedding

Then my dears, the place to be on Wednesday of this week was definitely the poolside of the tres fab Hilton Kingston Jamaica hotel, for the nuptials of law student Michael Williams and his bride, the lovely Nicola Cunningham, she being the social scribe for one of the weekly Sunday newspapers.

Dears, the buzz is it was all that, and then some - a charming and very intimate do that was a celebration of love, family and friendship. The reception followed at the hotel's St Ann Suite, after the poolside 'I dos'.

Many happy returns
